Living history in pedagogy – meaning and "case study" E. Štorch
Pedagogical memory and historical-pedagogical reflection constituted an important part of the development of pedagogical science in the 20th century and "competed" with empirically oriented pedagogical research. This paper discusses the importance of historical-pedagogical and cultural-pedagogical reflection in the development of pedagogical science and in the development of pedagogical competences of teacher education students. The analysis is concretised on the example of an important "forgotten" figure of 20th century pedagogy – E. Storch (1878-1956).
dr hab. prof. UR Wojciech Walat (Instytut Pedagogiki, Uniwersytet Rzeszowski, Rzeszów)
Problems of functional literacy of "homo interneticus" – a student of a modern school
In today's computerized world traditionally understood reading skills are insufficient, there is an urgent need to introduce universal functional skills. On every step we see functional illiteracy of philosophy, economy, social and others spheres of human life. In this lecture showed interpretation of homo interneticus such a new contemporary man and what is his qualities, which are most important for the development of educational systems that can prevent increasing functional illiteracy.
doc. PhDr. Miroslav Chráska, Ph.D. (Faculty of Education, Palacký University in Olomouc)
Multivariate statistical methods and their use in educational research
Multivariate statistical methods are currently not widely used in educational research. The lecture focuses on the general characteristics of these methods and introduces the principles of the most commonly used ones, i.e. cluster and factor analysis. In the next part of the lecture, specific ways of their application in educational research will be presented, including possible pitfalls that their use may entail. In particular, the use of cluster analysis in the search for characteristic groups of respondents and the verification of the assumed factor structure of the questionnaire will be discussed.
